Featured picture candidates Featured picture candidates are images that the community will vote on, to determine whether or not they will be highlighted as some of the finest on Commons. This page lists the candidates to become featured pictures. The picture of the day images are selected from featured pictures. Old candidates for featured pictures are listed in the log pages and in the candidate archives. There are also chronological lists of featured pictures: 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026 and current month. Formal thingsNominatingGuidelines for nominatorsPlease read the complete guidelines before nominating. This is a summary of what to look for when submitting and reviewing FP candidates:
Artworks, illustrations, and historical documentsThere are many different types of non-photographic media, including engravings, watercolors, paintings, etchings, and various others. Hence, it is difficult to set hard-and-fast guidelines. However, generally speaking, works can be divided into three types: Those that can be scanned, those that must be photographed, and those specifically created to illustrate a subject. Works that must be photographed include most paintings, sculptures, works too delicate or too unique to allow them to be put on a scanner, and so on. For these, the requirements for photography, below, may be mostly followed; however, it should be noted that photographs which cut off part of the original painting are generally not considered featurable. Works that may be scanned include most works created by processes that allow for mass distribution − for instance, illustrations published with novels. For these, it is generally accepted that a certain amount of extra manipulation is permissible to remove flaws inherent to one copy of the work, since the particular copy – of which hundreds, or even thousands of copies also exist – is not so important as the work itself. Works created to serve a purpose include diagrams, scientific illustrations, and demonstrations of contemporary artistic styles. For these, the main requirement is that they serve their purpose well. Provided the reproduction is of high quality, an artwork generally only needs one of the following four things to be featurable:
Digital restorations must also be well documented. An unedited version of the image should be uploaded locally, when possible, and cross-linked from the file description page. Edit notes should be specified in detail, such as "Rotated and cropped. Dirt, scratches, and stains removed. Histogram adjusted and colors balanced." PhotographsOn the technical side, we have focus, exposure, composition, movement control and depth of field.
On the graphic elements we have shape, volume, color, texture, perspective, balance, proportion, noise, etc.
You will maximise the chances of your nominations succeeding if you read the complete guidelines before nominating. Video and audioPlease nominate videos, sounds, music, PDFs, etc. at Commons:Featured media candidates. Set nominationsIf a group of images are thematically connected in a direct and obvious way, they can be nominated together as a set. A set should fall under one of the following types:
Adding a new nominationIf you believe that you have found or created an image that could be considered valuable, with appropriate name, quality, image description, categories and licensing, then do the following. Step 1: copy the image name into this box, after the text already present in the box, for example, Commons:Featured picture candidates/File:Your image filename.jpg. Then click on the "create new nomination" button. All single files: For renominations, simply add /2 after the filename. For example, Commons:Featured picture candidates/File:Foo.jpg/2
All set nomination pages should begin "Commons:Featured picture candidates/Set/", e.g. "Commons:Featured picture candidates/Set/My Nomination".
Step 3: manually insert a link to the created page at the top of Commons:Featured picture candidates/candidate list: Click here, and add the following line to the TOP of the nominations list:
Nominations are time-sensitive and for one-time use only. An automatic clock starts as soon as they are created. Do not create them in advance, save them for later or re-activate them. Galleries and FP categories: Please add a gallery page and section heading from the list at Commons FP galleries. Write the code as Page name#Section heading. For example: Optional: if you are not the creator of the image, please notify them using
An 'Alternative' is created by adding a sub-section to the nomination page: ====Alternative==== VotingEditors whose accounts have at least 10 days and 100 constructive, stable edits on Commons (excluding user and talk pages) can vote. Everybody can vote for their own nominations. Anonymous (IP) votes are not allowed. You may use the following templates:
You may indicate that the image has no chance of success with the template reason - ~~~~, where reason explains why the image is clearly unacceptable as a FP. The template can only be used when there are no support votes other than the one from the nominator. A well-written review helps participants (photographers, nominators and reviewers) improve their skills by providing insight into the strengths and weaknesses of a picture. Explain your reasoning, especially when opposing a candidate (which has been carefully selected by the author/nominator). English is the most widely understood language on Commons, but any language may be used in your review. A helpful review will often reference one or more of the criteria listed above. Unhelpful reasons for opposing include:
Remember also to put your signature (~~~~). Featured picture delisting candidatesOver time, featured picture standards change. It may be decided that for some pictures which were formerly "good enough", this is no longer the case. This is for listing an image which you believe no longer deserves to be a featured picture. For these, vote:
This can also be used for cases in which a previous version of an image was promoted to FP, but a newer version of the image has been made and is believed to be superior to the old version, e.g. a newly edited version of a photo or a new scan of a historical image. In particular, it is not intended for replacing older photos of a particular subject with newer photos of the same subject, or in any other case where the current FP and the proposed replacement are essentially different images. For these nominations, vote:
If you believe that some picture no longer meets the criteria for FP, you can nominate it for delisting, copying the image name into this box, after the text already present in the box: In the new delisting nomination page just created you should include:
After that, you have to manually insert a link to the created page at the top of Commons:Featured picture candidates/candidate list. As a courtesy, leave an informative note on the talk page(s) of the original creator, uploader(s), and nominator with a link to the delisting candidate. can be used for this purpose. Featured picture candidate policyGeneral rules
Featuring and delisting rulesA candidate will become a featured picture in compliance with following conditions:
The delisting rules are the same as those for FPs, with voting taking place over the same time period. The rule of the 5th day is applied to delisting candidates that have received no votes to delist, other than that of the proposer, by day 5. The FPCBot handles the vote counting and closing in most cases, current exceptions are candidates containing multiple versions (“alternatives”) of the image as well as delist-and-replace nominations. Any experienced user may close the requests not handled by the bot. For instructions on how to close nominations, see Commons:Featured picture candidates/What to do after voting is finished. Also note that there is a manual review stage between when the bot has counted the votes and before the nomination is finally closed by the bot; this manual review can be done by any user familiar with the voting rules. Hint: Until summer 2025, the bot was also not able to process FPXed, FPDed and withdrawn nominations as well as delist nominations; this has been fixed, users do not need to close such nominations anymore. Above all, be politePlease don't forget that the image you are judging is somebody's work. Avoid using phrases like "it looks terrible" and "I hate it". If you must oppose, please do so with consideration. Also remember that your command of English might not be the same as someone else's. Choose your words with care. Happy judging… and remember… all rules can be broken. See also

Info A risky nomination. In my opinion the shadows add depth to the image and make it more interesting, providing a sort of framing device that draws the eye towards the castle tower, but I will absolutely understand if people oppose for that reason. No FPs of this place. created by Pudelek – uploaded by Pudelek – nominated by Cmao20 -- Cmao20 (talk) 03:48, 29 June 2026 (UTC)

Comment Interesting place and the shadow doesn’t bother me, but I believe a slight crop on the left (without any on right) to make the image perfectly square will elevate the image and make it more balanced, pinging @Pudelek: in case they may want to apply such a crop. Would support a square crop. —UnpetitproleX (Talk) 17:09, 29 June 2026 (UTC)

Oppose Sorry, I recognise the building but I am not normally a fan of these kinds of views, it feels more like a gimmick than an outstanding composition to me. Comment Nice compo, view. Maybe too much satured/vibrance (orange stones). But Aperture was too narrow. f/13@18mm for APS-C is making colors pastel with no sharpnes. I would try f/9-10...also anti-clockwise rotation necessary. --Mile (talk) 11:44, 27 June 2026 (UTC)
- thank you SAIDI Ismail (talk) 04:10, 28 June 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Mile, I tried f/13 to get more detail in the distant landscape and also in the strong sunlight; next time I think the best technique will be focus stacking. SAIDI Ismail (talk) 04:15, 28 June 2026 (UTC)

Info (Changing from a Delist and Replace to a Set Nomination per discussion here)
Images of the 1919 painting Gassed by John Singer Sargent before and after a major restoration in 2023. The restoration removed several layers of yellowed varnish, revealing the original colors and drastically changing art historians' interpretations of the work. The first image is from 2012 and is already a featured picture. The post-restoration image was captured by the museum over the course of a week using specialized high-resolution photography.(article about the restoration) (info and video about the restoration from the museum) created by Surajr7 – uploaded by Surajr7 – nominated by Surajr7 -- Surajr7 (talk) 23:37, 25 June 2026 (UTC)

Oppose Nice texture, but what am I actually looking at? I don't think 'Ice structure' is anywhere near sufficient for a caption. Ice structure in what and where? Oppose Sorry, this looked great in thumbnail and I was preparing to support, but at full size it is not very sharp, there are some even blurrier transitions between poorly stitched frames, and I'm not convinced the horizon is straight - it looks like the picture is sloping downwards towards the right. Neutral Thank you, Arion, for nomination of my upload. But I agree with Cmao20. Probably severe denoising from ISO 10000 resulted in loss of detail. Very sad because I very like the composition. Юрий Д.К. 21:30, 25 June 2026 (UTC)

Info Here is a risky nomination I can't resist to, due to my fascination for the creations of Antonio Gaudi. I have included two pictures of the stairway of Casa Milá because I found it difficult to make justice to its beauty with a single one. Yes, I do love what the French call Art Nouveau and the Spanish Modernism. All by Alvesgaspar (talk) 21:13, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
Support -- Alvesgaspar (talk) 21:13, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
Support It is a beautiful building notwithstanding several technical flaws of the photographs (such as blown highlights, lack of sharpness, etc -- but you are no doubt already aware). The official regulations prohibit bringing a "professional camera" so probably we can't do much better than the Fujifilm X-T5 (although I am also disappointed in the X-T5, I thought it would be a lot better, but I checked your EXIF data and found your settings to be optimal for the situation). Overall, the harmonious textures and smooth curves are very nice. However, the regulations also mention that photography "requires special authorisation" and that the "Organization reserves the right to take legal action for the publication of any graphic, audiovisual or digital material of La Pedrera without prior authorization", which seems rather at odds with a free license for Commons. Would that be a problem? But I suppose Gaudi died 100 years ago and the copyright has expired so the architecture itself is public domain. dllu (talk) 23:12, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
Comment. The nomination should probably be withdrawn and, I assume, the images deleted. "No photos, video and/or sound recordings may be made or broadcast from the Basilica for commercial, advertising or dissemination (my emphasis) purposes without written authorisation in advance from the Foundation" Charlesjsharp (talk) 09:23, 25 June 2026 (UTC)
- The rules you cite probably apply to the Sagrada Familia basilica, not Casa Milá. The norms concerning Casa Milá are much more ambiguous. By the way, there are hundreds of photos of this building in Commons.-- Alvesgaspar (talk) 09:49, 25 June 2026 (UTC)
- I think these are the rules of Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera which runs the place. Charlesjsharp (talk) 14:42, 25 June 2026 (UTC)
- In my understanding (but I'm not familiar with Spanish law), Gaudi and the other artists who worked here have been dead long enough for their work to be public domain, and the organization operating this place can claim whatever they want, they have no legal basis to restrain the use of any pictures taken here. A lot of organizations running heritage buildings have similar "rules" (in France, the RMN even claims it owns copyright on Renaissance paintings), but thankfully, there are laws and the simple fact that some organization says you can't do something doesn't make it true. --Benji 08:11, 27 June 2026 (UTC)

Oppose Contrast is to high, composition is not interesting, colors neither. Despite you could out 2 original into set nomination. --Mile (talk) 17:18, 25 June 2026 (UTC)
Support I think the atmosphere of the photos, and the presentation as a diptych, is artistic and elegant. I hope the pictures do not have to be deleted. I won't comment on that, as it is out of scope for what I'm judging here. Cmao20 (talk) 18:19, 25 June 2026 (UTC)
Oppose -- Per Mile, I think one photo with better postprocessing would do the job. Now it's kinda unappealing, mostly because of the colors. And I had to think to figure out that it was the same staircase from above and below. It's not that obvious. -- Krigore (talk) 09:45, 26 June 2026 (UTC)
Oppose -- Per Mile and Krigore, the technical quality of this picture is not good enough (although I understand it is difficult to do better in a crowded place with restrictions on photography), the result is not appealing and I don't think making one file out of the two pictures was a good idea. --Benji 08:11, 27 June 2026 (UTC)
Oppose No doubt that the place offers a bunch of possible FPs but I don't think that these images illustrate the beuty of the place. I agree that the images are not appealing (porbably not the nicest motives), look overporocessed and the light management is not the best either. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Poco a poco (talk • contribs)

Info Small red scorpionfish (Scorpaena notata), Catania, Sicily, Italy. It's a venomous scorpionfish, widespread in the Eastern Atlantic from the Bay of Biscay to Senegal, Madeira, Azores and the Canary Islands, including the Mediterranean and the Black Sea. The small red scorpionfish has usually a maximum length of about 15 cm (6 in) as adult and it's a littoral species but also occurs in deeper water down to a depth of about 700 m (2,297 ft). The type locality of this species is actually Sicily, where the picture was taken. Weak oppose as per cmao20, also the sharpness isn't great besides the very center, and the sky is grainy. There's a slightly noticeable amount of chroma noise on the tower itself in the shadow region. However, I do understand that it is difficult to get a shot of this Ukrainian landmark due to the war situation (and access to the port seems pretty tightly controlled otherwise too). dllu (talk) 18:22, 25 June 2026 (UTC)

Comment The Mandelbrot set is an endless source of beauty and all we have to do is to choose among thousands of different images generated automatically (or by AI). This is not a critique just a realization that disturbs me a little. Could we compare this situation with the choice we make among the many different views nature has to offer? I feel it is not really the same thing and feel tempted to reject most of these images until something extraordinary comes up. -- Alvesgaspar (talk) 19:40, 25 June 2026 (UTC)
- No! Automatically generated (or artificially intelligent) is impossible! Only a HUMAN can do this! And yes, it's extraordinary, but it takes many hours and even days. Aokoroko (talk) 22:26, 25 June 2026 (UTC)
- It is a matter of human taste to decide which view to choose, as well as choices in, say, the colour palette used. You can see here that Aokoroko has swept through over 100 different fractals from File:Mandelbrot Set Image 01.jpg to File:Mandelbrot Set Image 110.png before finally one was deemed worthy of nominating as an FP. dllu (talk) 10:29, 26 June 2026 (UTC)

Weak oppose
- Sorry, I can't see any sign of CA at all. Cmao20 (talk) 10:55, 25 June 2026 (UTC)
Comment I can zoom in to 200% and scroll around in the top right corner but I cannot see any of the claimed artifacts. Also I can't make out any of the claimed chromatic aberrations in the mountains. Granada (talk) 12:06, 25 June 2026 (UTC)
- Indeed. I have noticed this forum growing rather paranoid about CA lately. In the past I've nominated pictures that do have slight chromatic aberrations but are extremely high resolution and otherwise good quality, and they have passed without opposition; lately I've seen opposes for CA that is so minor that I genuinely cannot see any evidence of it whatever. Perhaps standards are changing...I'd appreciate a note to show where this has been noticed. Cmao20 (talk) 12:29, 25 June 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for nomination! I'm a bit confused about the CA and artefact claims as well. I can't see anything drastic myself. I've definitely had worse examples of CA in some of my other pictures, and tbh I don't personally feel too bothered about a little bit of CA. I think it's quite natural thing, that I sometimes fix a bit if I feel like it.
The artefacts, I can't seem to find them on my screen. Surely they can't be that bad, because... uh?The other thing I can address a bit: Yeah, I honestly have a habit of downscaling, and it's purely my preference how I like to view my images when at 100%. I don't want to downscale much, but that's how I like to look at them. (I'm not so interested in evaluating how perfect the lenses are at every situation, or how well camera bodies translate the lens qualities into pixel clusters of varying quality at different corners of image at the full size. Instead, at 100% I like the eye to wander in the details of the landscape itself at that particular resolution, at the level of detail where everything worthy is still there identifiable, if that makes sense.) In short, I just want them to have just the appropriate amount of detail to be "perfect" for Wikipedia articles. The second reason is, i'm still a bit paranoid about where all my pictures might end up, so to ease my anxiety, I still like to have the original files and image sizes in my personal storage as a proof of original ownership. Greetings, --Ximonic (talk) 18:45, 25 June 2026 (UTC)- Found some artefact patches and removed them. Looked like different level of pixel noise. They were very faint atleast for me - I had to really look closely to find them. --Ximonic (talk) 19:01, 25 June 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you for dropping in to make improvements and talk about your photo, Ximonic. You are most welcome for the nomination. I can see the artefacts now that I compare the before and after, but agree that they were very faint indeed! Cmao20 (talk) 19:11, 25 June 2026 (UTC)

Support Stunning view and likely a POTY finalist or even winner. There is a very slight CA but only visible at very high zoom, so it is negligible. But I've noticed that original was 6,720х4,480px. Is the photo is cropped or downscaled? Юрий Д.К. 13:18, 25 June 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you, agree. I have to go to 300% zoom to see anything that looks like colour fringing! Most of Ximonic's pictures seem to be cropped pretty extensively, often from larger panoramas. Cmao20 (talk) 16:02, 25 June 2026 (UTC)

Comment Thanks for removing the multiple patches of artefacts.
Support now but I do not appreciate the accusatory tone of several editors here ("can’t see … CA at all", "cannot see … claimed artifacts … claimed CAs", "CA and artefact claims"), and elsewhere, as if I am making up the issues in the image(s) or that they don’t actually exist—and yet a moment later the artefacts not only appear but also get fixed (which is all I had asked for). CAs and artefacts are not hard to fix, CAs in fact are rather easy to remove especially when they’re minor.
My primary reason to change my vote from neutral to weak oppose originally, were the artefacts especially and less so the CAs, as I also noted in my original comment. I also don’t understand why an issue shouldn’t matter if it’s only visible at 100% (or more) zoom. It is a pretty standard practice at FPC to judge an image based on detail, sharpness, and indeed CAs and artefacts, at that level of zoom. --UnpetitproleX (Talk) 04:54, 26 June 2026 (UTC)
- UnpetitproleX, I am not sure how 'I can't see any signs of CA at all' is accusatory. (I won't address the other instances you felt were accusations, because I didn't say them.) It was merely a statement of fact. I couldn't see any, because it had not occurred to me that I was supposed to zoom in to 300% to see it. I will be honest, I absolutely think an issue does not matter if it is only visible at 300% zoom. I would call it pixel peeping. It is irrelevant to artistic enjoyment of the photograph, irrelevant to realistic use cases of the photograph in Wikimedia projects, and irrelevant to any realistic use case of the photograph by any third party reuser. If it is a standard practice to judge an image at FPC based on CAs at more than 100% zoom, then it is in my opinion a wrong practice and ought to change. You are free to have a different opinion, and you may of course choose to oppose images for this reason. But I am also free to speak my mind, and I don't think my tone was (or is) hostile. I fully stand by my original comments - I can't see any signs of CA at all at any magnification that I personally believe it is reasonable to judge a photograph. Cmao20 (talk) 10:57, 26 June 2026 (UTC)
- Im sorry but this is in fact a clear example of pixel peeping, one of the most notorious I've seen in almost 20 years experience on FPC. UnpetitproleX you don't even seem to care about the image resolution. I've to ask you to discontinue with this practice. It will just frustrate authors, reviewers and yourself, and if it makes a difference in the end, then we'll have more downsampling. Poco a poco (talk) 17:58, 26 June 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you, Poco, I'm glad you see it this way too. Cmao20 (talk) 18:16, 26 June 2026 (UTC)
- Cmao20 I could see the multiple patches of artefacts (multiple as in more than one, patches as in portions of the image and just not some pixels) at less than 100% zoom and the CA at 100% zoom. Your personal inability to see them at less than 300% does not mean others can not. The accusations, now, of "pixel peeping" by you and Poco a poco, with whose image I pointed out similar issues though did not oppose since there were no patches of artefacts in it, are frankly offensive. I will continue to review nominations. UnpetitproleX (Talk) 03:02, 27 June 2026 (UTC)
- UnpetitproleX, no, they're not offensive. Sorry but they're just not. You may feel offended by them but that does not make them offensive, sorry. I didn't ask you not to continue to review nominations so am unsure why you are acting like I did. You have a right to your opinion and you may oppose any and all of my nominations if you wish. But I have a right to point out that I think your opinion is bad and that criticising images for such miniscule technical failings (as opposed to more substantive issues such as composition, light, and quality at sensible zoom levels) is bad for the project and makes FPC worse. Please don't try to shut down my right to my opinions by calling politely-expressed viewpoints that happen to conflict with your own opinions 'offensive.' Cmao20 (talk) 05:32, 27 June 2026 (UTC)
- I just don’t believe multiple large patches of visible artefacts are 'minuscule', and I’d be surprised if anyone thought so. You may believe me pointing out those patches are pixel peeping and "make FPC worse" but I don’t. Such accusations I do find offensive.
- UnpetitproleX (Talk) 05:46, 27 June 2026 (UTC)
- Well, it seems that everyone else did think so, as the picture did not pick up any criticism from any other voter and even the creator could barely see the issues, but alright, this discussion will not be productive. I wish you all the best even though I wish you would be willing to tolerate civil disagreement. Cmao20 (talk) 05:56, 27 June 2026 (UTC)
- I don’t think everyone said the multiple large patches of visible artefacts were minuscule, only that the CAs were minor—which I also said—but we’re all allowed to draw our own conclusions. I’m just glad those patches were removed, a FP shouldn’t have such issues, even if the minor CAs are still there. I wish people would be less hostile to those pointing out issues and not accuse them of inventing those. UnpetitproleX (Talk) 07:39, 27 June 2026 (UTC)

Oppose As above. Alvesgaspar (talk) 15:01, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
Comment Alvesgaspar and Uoaei1: As I've explained in previous nominations with similiar photos, nothing here is distorted or over-corrected. This was shot with a high quality PC-E 19mm tilt-shift lens precisely to render the verticals correctly and avoid the converging-lines distortion a tilted camera would produce. The perspective you see is the geometrically accurate one.
My goal was a high-quality architectural shot in beautiful light that puts the building clearly at its center. The SANAA building stands in a very urban setting, so a more distant viewpoint would inevitably pull in distracting elements such as street lamps, the road, trees and residential buildings. The close corner perspective was a deliberate choice to keep the focus on the architecture. It also nicely emphasises the cirrocumulus clouds, which add to the morning atmosphere.
I'm always a little surprised that slightly bolder perspectives keep meeting resistance - a dynamic viewpoint shouldn't be mistaken for a distorted one. --Tuxyso (talk) 17:34, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
Comment There is no such thing as a "geometrically accurate perspective". Yes, those lines are vertical but we see them as converging when we look up at the building. If we look straight ahead at a close distance, we often won't be able to see it all. Please understand these negative opinions as an expression of an aesthetical feeling, not as a technical evaluation. In other words as a way of saying "this doesn't look natural". Anyway, many people here are aware of my depp deslike of the present fashion of correcting all verticals. -- Alvesgaspar (talk) 18:10, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
- I fully respect your standpoint. As always with photos - often a matter of personal taste. Nonetheless: I have not corrected the verticals but only put the camera into horizontal position and shifted the image circle. For those who prefer a less dynamic viewpoint I have these shots File:SANAA-Gebäude-Morgenlicht-2026-03.jpg and File:SANAA-Gebäude-Morgenlicht-2026-02.jpg but finally I deciced to nominate this one here. Tuxyso (talk) 18:37, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
- To be honest I can understand Alvesgaspar's comments. When using a super wide shift lens, e.g. with a Laowa 15mm f/4.5 Shift, I generally prefer to just take a flat frontal view like File:Hallidie Building in San Francisco dllu.jpg rather than a really dynamic corner view for that reason. Here, I also prefer the relatively "boring" view of File:SANAA-Gebäude-Morgenlicht-2026-02.jpg. As a personal rule of thumb (just for my own taste rather than as a general recommendation), when I do take photos of corner views of cuboid-shaped buildings, I try to prevent the corner from approaching an acute angle less than 90 degrees, although I sometimes do break this rule myself, e.g. in File:Hillman Library, exterior (brighter).jpg. Sometimes I also leave the verticals slightly uncorrected on purpose, e.g. File:Jackson Tower, Portland at dusk.jpg. As an extremely minor nitpick, in the 2026-02 image, there's a very slight bit of chromatic aberrations and barrel distortion, which are generally super annoying to correct with shift lenses. Some newer, super expensive shift lenses, like the Fujifilm GF 30mm f/5.6 TS, will save the shift amount in the metadata, so that software can correct for these. P.S. the legendary Nikkor 19mm f/4 PC-E has long been one of my dream lenses. It is wonderful to see people contributing to Commons with such high end gear. dllu (talk) 20:29, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for your detailed background information, I really appreciate it. Due to your hint I have corrected CA on 02 (the correction in LR was just deactivated). The PC-E 19mm is a stunning lens - had a chance to get it used. It is not yet available new. --Tuxyso (talk) 21:43, 24 June 2026 (UTC)

Support The top-right poppy mentioned by GRDN711 is a minor distraction, but it doesn't reduce the image's appeal for me. The wonderfully natural abundance of flowers is exactly what makes this composition so convincing. -- Radomianin (talk) 22:27, 24 June 2026 (UTC)

Question I don't really understand the sets, so I'll ask why not a full panorama instead? I imagine the bay was very large?. Thanks for answer --Wilfredor (talk) 14:23, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
- It is, in fact, quite long, it's not a small cove, but that's not the issue. It's certainly possible to make a panorama from one of these viewpoints, but it's not possible to merge the views from the two opposite points into one, hence the set. The Cosmonaut (talk) 15:17, 22 June 2026 (UTC)

Closing nominations manually
The following description explains how to close nominations manually. Normally this is not necessary, as FPCBot takes care of counting the votes, closing and archiving the nominations. When the Bot has counted the votes, a user needs to check and approve the result; everything else is done by the Bot. Therefore, the following instructions are normally only needed for delist-and-replace nominations that the Bot cannot (yet) process, and in case the Bot malfunctions. The closing can be done by any experienced user. If you need help, just ask on the FPC talk page.
Closing a featured picture nomination
- On Commons:Featured picture candidates/candidate list click on the title/link of the nomination, then [edit].
- Add the result of the voting at the bottom (on a new line):

(You can leave thegalleryparameter blank if the image was not featured. If the nomination contains alternatives, you must add thealternative=xxxparameter with the name of the selected image between thegalleryand thesigparameter. See FPC-results-reviewed for examples and more explanations.) - Edit the title of the nomination and add
featuredornot featuredafter the link – for example:
:File:XXXXX.jpg
becomes
=== :File:XXXXX.jpg, featured === - Save your edit.
- Add the result of the voting at the bottom (on a new line):
- If it is featured:
- Add the picture to the list of the four most recently featured pictures of an appropriate gallery of Commons:Featured pictures, list as the first one and delete the last one, so that the number is four again.
- Add the picture to the appropriate featured picture gallery page and section. Click on the most appropriate link beneath where you just added it as one of the four images on Commons:Featured pictures, list to find the gallery page, and search for the correct section. (An image should only appear ONE time in the galleries. After a successful nomination, the image can be placed in several of the Featured pictures categories.)
- Add the template
to the image description page.- If it was an alternative image or part of a set nomination, use the
com-nomparameter. For example, if File:Foo.jpg was promoted in the nominationCommons:Featured picture candidates/File:Bar.jpg, useYou also need thecom-nomparameter if the image gets renamed. - If the image is already featured on another Wikipedia, just add
featured=1to the Assessments template. For instance, becomes
- If it was an alternative image or part of a set nomination, use the
- Head over to the structured data for the image and add the “Commons quality assessment” claim (P6731) “Wikimedia Commons featured picture” (Q63348049).
- Add the picture to the chronological archives of featured pictures. Place it at the end of the gallery using this format:
File:xxxxx.jpg|# Title<br>created by xxxxx, uploaded by xxxxx, nominated by xxxxx<br> xxx, xxx, xxx- The
#should be replaced by 1 for the first image nominated that month, and counts up after that. Have a look at the other entries on that page for examples. (If you want to do everything perfectly, link that number to the nomination subpage, just like FPCBot does this. It allows users to jump directly to the nomination.) - The
Titleshould be replaced by the bare name of the featured picture, without the ‘File:’ or the file extension (such as .jpg .tif .svg). - The
xinx, x, xshould be replaced by the count of support, oppose, and neutral votes respectively. - If the nomination was a set nomination, use this format:
File:xxxxx.jpg|# Set: Title (Z files)<br>created by xxxxx, uploaded by xxxxx, nominated by xxxxx<br> x, x, x
Replace theZin(Z files)by the count of images in the set, and use the name of the first image from the set instead ofFile:xxxxx.jpgand for the title.
- The
- Add
FP promotion
File:XXXXX.jpgto the talk page of the nominator. For set nominations, use:== Set Promoted to FP ==, using the names of the set files instead of the XXXXXX and the title of the set instead of YYYYY.
<gallery>
File:XXXXXX.jpg
File:XXXXXX.jpg
</gallery>
YYYYY - Add
FP promotion
File:XXXXX.jpgto the talk page of the user who has uploaded the image, if that user is not the same as the nominator. - Add
FP promotion
File:XXXXX.jpgto the talk page of the creator, if the author is a different Commons user than nominator and uploader.
- Add candidate archive categories to the nomination so that people can easily find and evaluate past nominations (this applies also to unsuccessful, FPX-d, FPD-d and Withdraw-n nominations). It’s best practice to wrap all these categories in a
<noinclude>...</noinclude>section because they apply only to the nomination itself, not to the log page etc. which transclude it. You need three or four categories:- A category for the month and year, like Category:June 2026 featured picture candidates for the current month.
- A category for the type and result of the nomination, like Category:2026 successful candidates for featured picture status; replace “successful” by “unsuccessful”, “FPXed”, “FPDed” or “withdrawn”, depending on the final result of the nomination (see the supercategory for common values).
- A category for the subject of the nomination, like Category:2026 featured picture candidates of plants. Replace “plants” by one of the possible subject keywords like “animals”, “architecture”, etc.; see the base category for all common keywords. Basically the subject keywords correspond to the first part of the gallery link.
- If the nomination is a set nomination, add Category:2026 featured picture set nominations.
- As the last step (whether the image is featured or not; including FPX-d, FPD-d and Withdraw-n nominations), you have to move the transclusion (the and the text within those) of the nomination to the current log page.
- To find the current log page, visit the first page of the log for this month. If the header of that page contains a link with the text “Next part of this month”, the log for this month has been split into several parts because it contains too many entries. Click on the “Next part …” link and repeat this until you reach a page where the header does not offer a “Next part …” link; that’s the last and current log page.
- Now open Commons:Featured picture candidates/candidate list, click on [edit], and find the transclusion of the nomination you are closing. It will be of the form:
or:. - Copy that line to the bottom of the current log page and save that page. Then remove the same line from the candidate list and save that page.
Closing a delisting nomination
- On Commons:Featured picture candidates/candidate list click on the title/link of the candidate image, then [edit].
Add the result of the voting at the bottom (on a new line):
(for example see Commons:Featured picture candidates/removal/File:Ensifera ensifera (22271195865).jpg) - Edit the title of the delisting nomination and add
delistedornot delistedafter the image title; for example:=== :File:XXXXX.jpg ===
becomes=== :File:XXXXX.jpg, delisted === - Add candidate archive categories to the nomination; this works the same way as described above for featured picture nominations. The only difference is that the category for type and status must be of the form Category:2026 successful candidates for delisting from featured picture status, or Category:2026 successful candidates for delisting and replacing featured pictures if this is a delist-and-replace nomination. Substitute “unsuccessful”, “FPXed”, “FPDed” or “withdrawn” for “successful”, depending on the final result of the nomination.
- Move the transclusion of the nomination to the current log page; please see above for an explanation how to find the current log page and how to move the nomination to it.
- If the outcome was not delisted, stop here. If it is delisted:
- Remove the picture from Commons:Featured pictures, list and any subpages.
- Edit the picture's description as follows:
- In the Assessments template on the image description page, change
featured=1tofeatured=2(do not remove the Assessments template; do not change anything related to its status in other featured picture processes). If the image description page uses the old Featured picture template, replace it with. - Remove the image from all categories beginning with "Featured [pictures]" (example: Featured night photography, Featured pictures from Wiki Loves Monuments 2016, Featured pictures of Paris); but not from categories about featured pictures on specific Wikipedia editions, like Category:Featured pictures on Wikipedia, English.
- Remove the "Commons quality assessment" claim (P6731) "Wikimedia Commons featured picture" (Q63348049) from the picture's Structured data.
- In the Assessments template on the image description page, change
- Add a delisting-comment to the original entry in the chronological archive of featured pictures in bold-face, e. g. delisted 2007-07-19 (1–6) with (1–6) meaning 1 keep and 6 delist votes (change as appropriate). The picture must not be removed from the chronological archives.
- If this is a Delist and Replace, the delisting and promotion must both be done manually. To do the promotion, follow the steps in the section above. Note that the assessment tag on the file page and the promotion tag on the nominator's talk page won't pick up the /replace subpage that these nominations use.

If a nomination has been withdrawn by the nominator by using Withdraw or is cancelled with FPX or FPD, wait 24 hours after the nomination was last edited. If there has been no objection to the cancellation within this time, the nomination can simply be archived. Just add candidate archive categories to the nomination itself, then move the transclusion of the nomination to the current log page; please see above for an explanation how to find the current log page and how to move the nomination to it.
